    LONGYEARBYEN, Swalbard Islands

    This is the main Cruise Port in the Swalbard Islands in the Arctic. The port is located in the heart of this tiny town on the island of Spitzbergen which is also the biggest of all the islands. The cruise ships usually docks in the heart of the town of about 2400 people.

    You can comfortably walk in the immediate area of the ship but there is very little to see and if you venture further out you run the rick of encountering a polar bear which would be a disaster. it is therefore recommended that you do a tour with on of the local companies.

    There are many great tours that operate out of Longyearbyen depending on the time of the time. In winter you can visit the glaciers….
